I don't think I've ever finished listening to an audiobook. I've started several, but for some reason, just lost interest and drifted away. I much prefer the printed word, whether that is in a 'real,' holdable book or on a computer screen. Given that the voice in this one starts out strong and 'goes flat,' that would just hasten my departure from the book. I think I'll pass. Thanks for the review!

I was determined to read the book before I read your review. It seems I made a good choice. Dealing with a troubled teenager is tough and I was expecting the hike in the Olympic Park would bring some good results. What I was not expecting was the girl's disappearance. It seems strange to me that Native Americans, who are supposed to read tracks and everything did not find the girl earlier. But I will have to read myself to find out what happened. Too bad of the abrupt ending, but at least we are warned.
Good review, thank you! :tiphat:

I find I get a bit distracted with audiobooks...maybe this is a throwback to having to pay attention in school and zoning out... :) This one sounds like a good mix of elements to keep the plot of the book moving along. I will check into this one a bit more. It sounds like a lot of family drama and a bit of heritage all in one. I will have to look further into this one. Thanks for more insight on this one.

It seems intriguing. There might be some kind of supernatural stuff happening during Sarah's disappearance or she may have entered some kind of alternate universe. Your review makes me so curious about it; I want to read this book. Thanks for the honest feedback about the audio. I once tried it but listening to audio books makes me sleepy so I also prefer to read.

I enjoy books that contain Native American legends, so I imagine I would enjoy this book.
There is no frigate like a book
To take us lands away,
Nor any coursers like a page
Of prancing poetry.
This traverse may the poorest take
Without oppress of toll;
How frugal is the chariot
That bears a human soul!

Thank you for the review. I read some of the book and so far it is very interesting. I had to remind myself that I was reading the look inside section from amazon and not the full version of the book. It had me drained in from that alone. Placing it on my shelf so that I can read it. Definitely looking forward to reading Sarah’s story from when she disappeared.

Audio books are good sometimes but it is much easier to make myself sit and pay attention when I read. The story seems interesting but I want a book that has a good ending.

I'm open to learning more about American legends. Sarah's story intrigued me and despite the short-spoken ending, I'm curious to see what happened when she disappeared for eight days. Thank you for the recommendation!
