Glad to see more and more books sharing and teaching us all the importance of what it's like in the African American society. But I have to agree with most, that after reading the title the book was not at all what I expected.

The author mentions juvenile delinquency, single-parent families, and how women protagonists train their children to cope with racial discrimination. They are important themes to give me the reason why I should read this book. Great review.

I love how the author develop each characters and how they relate with the readers. Yvonne, a young mother who want the best for her son, then was in love with Cedric but later married Charles. It seems filled with lessons and moral. Nice review.

It sounds like an interesting book that touches on important topics. Personally, a "Hollywood" style of writing doesn't impress me much, but I'm still interested enough to take a look at the book. Thank you for your insightful review.

Thanks for the excellent review! This book sounds like it has a little of everything which makes it sound interesting. I like the fact that the characters are well developed. When they are I can get lost in the story and feel like I actually know the characters I'm reading about!

Great character development! An African-American woman trying to teach her child the basics of having a black skin; racial discrimination etc. I think "Mirrors of Life" by Neal Owens will attract a lot of audiences!

This is a story of growing up Black in the United States today and the problems African Americans face. The characters are very well-developed and interesting. Congratulations to the author for having this powerful book chosen as BOTD. Thanks to the reviewer for your excellent review.

I love the concept of this book! Even if someone is not of the same color, there is no denying that everyone struggles with poverty, loss of loved ones, and more. I have to say that the concept of making lives better is really interesting, especially in regard to the Black community. Thank you Mr. Owens for making the book free today!

From a sampling, this seems like an interesting story about different characters that come together to solve problems and make their lives better. It might be worth a second look. Well done.

I didn't expect this book to be anything other than a nonfiction, self-help book, what with its title about mirrors and what one's life is in the mirror. I can sympathize with the families' immediate acceptance of crisis, possibly due to desensitization from frequent occurrences. I feel a foreboding sense of doom surrounding the tale, and I'm in no mood for such heaviness, thus I'll pass. Thanks for the review.
