I like how the friends have such different personalities and life stories, just like our friends in real life. From your review it sounds like some great slice-of-life stories are included. I will enjoy reading it, I'm sure. Congrats on a wonderful review!

A set of short stories that revolve around four women and tell about their lives and aging sounds interesting. I dislike the book title and cover though... I agree, it's creating a certain mood and sensation. But I believe it shouldn't be like that. Alcohol causes too many problems to be related to good impressions.

A short-story book of four Canadian women and their families sounds great. I like short story books offering new new tales with a new spice. Congratulations on BOTD.

This seems like an insightful and relatable collection of stories and, I admit I have a soft spot for feminine narratives. From what I sampled, I agree with you, Celeste can be annoying!
Thank you for your enthusiastic review!

I have to admit this type of book is only my type of thing if I'm in a certain mood ready to take my time and enjoy a character-driven story. Of course, when you said they were Canadian women my ears perked up, being a Canadian. But one thing I was wondering about is what level of profanity and sexual content it has. Just because someone is a mother or of a "higher" class of society doesn't mean they don't have "potty-mouths" or talk non-stop about their latest sexual encounter. Those are the type of women I wouldn't want to spend my time with, no matter how amusing their stories or anecdotes are.

But I do appreciate your review because it gave me all the help I needed to make an informed opinion about what type of book it is.

Thank you.

Sincerely, Laura-Lee Rahn

by your blood, out of every tribe and tongue and people and Nation." Rev. 5:9

An amusing and a heartwarming collection of twenty-three short stories in the book "We Drank Wine" by Marion Reidel, which takes us into the lives and the bond between four Canadian women: Beth, Sandy, Celeste, Janice and as well as their children, husbands, friends, and neighbors.
life is only knowing the unknown, we can do this by reading books easily- Online book club is a great place for this. This is what I believe.

This sounds like an excellent short story collection told from the feminine perspective. It is great that the author adds humor but also addresses subjects like suicide and depression. Congrats on the book of the day. Great review.

This is a nicely written book about women who came together to assist each other with ideas on parenting. I read samples of this book and I loved it. Thanks for the review.

This is certainly a woman's book, as it sounds rather like a collection of stories that women would tell each other over a cup tea or coffee at home, together in a group. Perhaps I am wrong, but I think this is entertaining in a light manner, and even humorous, as if you were sitting listening to them gossiping to each other. I enjoy short stories, particularly when I need to be occupied at waiting rooms or similar places. Your review conveyed the spirit of this book very nicely.
