Thanks for the review, but I'm just not 'feeling' this book about a character having to "deal with infidelity and personal demons while trying to uphold her professional reputation", so I'll pass.

I generally don't enjoy books that include a failing marriage. While I like that CJ is independent and accomplished, her destruction choices would probably annoy me. Still, this book sounds well-written and captivating to the right audience.

Thanks for the well written and informative review. I am not pleased with the main story. Despite the issues being real and faced with many married professionals it's rather depressing and demotivating. It's especially discouraging to young professionals who are yet to marry.

Catherine “CJ” McCarter seems like she’s got it all together from the outsider's eye point of view. Her life is the picture-perfect image of success. Becoming enmeshed in an academic scandal and threatened by blackmail that could put her career in jeopardy and dismantle everything she has toiled so hard for, CJ is forced to compute with aspects of her life and herself which were hitherto unexamined.

It is weird when you see how a man in a Christian society is looked upon when he is having an affair compared to a man in a Muslim society. I once heard a woman tell her husband, "instead of sneaking out to her why not marry her?" Imagine! Nice review.

"The Assignment by Don Chance is a character-driven book about choices, secrets, and professional integrity." This phrase alone in your review is enough to sell this novel. I am just glad that the author chose to write such an educative book. Great review.

Thanks for a wonderful review. I feel like many people will be able to relate to CJ's dilemma of whether to confront her spouse on his suspected infidelity or not.

This sounds like a great book. It is amazing to see that the author developed the supporting characters well to the point where they were outstanding as well. Thanks a lot for the informative review.

Although I like dramas and character-driven stories, I'm turned off by the explicit sex and profanity. This story seems to really describe what happens when a person allows his personal and work life to interfere with each other. Thanks for an honest and scintillating review!

Your review gives a complete image of The Assignment, without spoilers.
You are right about the captivating capacity of Chance's style, the reader is pulled in early on.
There is a major turn from focusing on the main character's career to personal life and sex that I hadn't expected.
Seeing that sex and repairing a marriage is what the book will be about I believe I will not read the book.
Thank you for helping me make that decision! :P

This book is not a book I would read but it does sound like a page-turner! It is a drama that addresses marriage hardships, career integrity, and hard work. Congrats on the book of the day. Great review.
