Re: Official Review: The Skye in June by June Ahem

Your review is very detailed and makes it easy to decide to read the book. Thank you so much for giving enough information, I have downloaded the book and hope to have it read by the weekend. When I first saw the title and author's name I thought it was an autobiography. I have read a few but it' s not my favorite genre. Your review about June and her connections with her siblings sand the adults that help her to develop her talents drew me in. I look forward to following June and her struggles of everyday life. I enjoy books that show the development of children's talents as they face difficulties.Again thank you for this awesome review, can't wait to get caught up in a new story.

I appreciate the reviewer's summary of the novel. I’m intrigued by the supernatural element in the story, but it is not enough to really encourage me to read it. I just am not a fan of feminist literature, in general.

Although I am not religious, I am feminist and I have 2 younger sisters so I can really relate to the sisterly love. June sounds like a great character who I would admire. Thanks for the review and I will definitely read this book some time.

From your review, June sounds like a strong character who struggled to make it as a woman where being a female was looked down on. I look forward to reading about the struggles of this young woman and her special gift. Thank you.

I just read this review and then downloaded the book! Thank you for your insight into the novel. I am a lover of fantasy splashed into reality making it almost believeable that these things could happen or were real. From reading your summary and details of characters like June and her sisters I feel this could be a very good read.

Thank you again for your review.

It's a very fine story of a catholic family. The author beautifully depicts all characters in their place. Thanks for your review.

Sounds like a story with well developed characters and gender equality themes that are still relevant to our modern times. The conflict between family members across religious lines can be a polarizing theme yet it sounds like it was handled with sensitivity as well.

Thank you for the review. This book sounds like it deals with a variety of topics which are all tied around a girl with developing psychic abilities in a strict Catholic home. I am curious as to why the book only received 3 stars as I don't see anything in the review that you did not like. The immigrant family sounds like they will be fun to meet and understand.

The author has highlighted the struggle that many people can relate to-feeling like the black sheep of the family. Psychic abilities and tarot card interest is a unique angle, especially as it concerns June's relationship with her faith and his religious beliefs.

A novel about a clairvoyant coming into her abilities is a new storyline for me. I’m not sure how well I would enjoy the 1950s antiquated ideas but I’m sure the setting works well to juxtapose the otherworldliness of June. Thanks for this review!

This sounds like an interesting read. I really enjoy books that have paranormal aspects, which is seems like this has, as well as some deeper aspects of facing adversity and discrimination. Thank you for your thoughtful review!

You have given a beautiful summary of the book that has got me interested in the story. The themes of patriarchy and feminism should make the book an interesting read.

That June's form of rebellion is seeing the future, and Tarot cards are interesting. I can see where that would be problematic for a deeply religious Catholic family. Does the dad blame it on the non-Catholic saint name? I think the book sounds like a good coming of age story.

Thanks for your review. This book seems to cover some interesting topics from psychic abilities, to strict Catholicism and family rules and values, and then to gender equality.
