"Pastor B and the Haunted Church" by Dorothy May Mercer is mysterious thriller is based on Church. It's about Church renovation area, where mysterious thing happening that lead to horror environment. In between all these drama, Faith on God helped story to explore in different areas. So it's enjoyable mysterious read.

This is a well-articulated and insightful review that captures the depth and richness of Pastor B and the Haunted Church by Dorothy May Mercer. You effectively spotlight the novel's unique blend of Christian themes, historical context, mystery, and paranormal intrigue. Your recognition of how the author weaves in complex topics—such as the Underground Railroad, embezzlement, and even transgender family conflict—without overwhelming the reader is commendable.

Particularly noteworthy is your appreciation of Reverend Alan’s leadership, faith, and practical wisdom, which add authenticity and strength to the narrative. Your mention of his partnership with Sharon, and how their relationship balances personal goals with religious duty, adds a touching layer to the review.

Your review does an excellent job of both summarizing the book’s strengths and conveying your personal engagement with its message. It's clear that Pastor B and the Haunted Church delivers not just suspense, but also meaningful life lessons, making it a strong recommendation for readers who appreciate thoughtful and spiritually grounded fiction.

"Pastor B and the Haunted Church" by Dorothy May Mercer is a Christian Mystery Suspense and the first book in the Christian series about the River Heights Church. This church is a 100-year-old mansion with a spooky history going back to the 19th century. Alan Burke was recently assigned to this old church after being pastor of a large congregation in the suburbs. His boss, Bishop Remarque, thought it would be good for Alan since he was approaching retirement and this old church would not require him to work 72-hour weeks like he had done for several years. The congregation is mostly older people with a few young people, some with young children. The River Heights Church as built on the site of a church that had been burned down when it was a stop on the Underground Railroad. A non-member of the church established the George Mountbatten Reed Memorial Fund and opportunities arise to renovate the church instead of building a new church in a better part of the city. The church needs renovations and Alan wondered about what contractors may find on this historical site. Alan would also like to know who established the fund and why? Alan has a lot to learn about this church that includes deceit, greed, embezzlement, gambling, jealousy, the Underground Railroad and a suicide attempt all play important parts in this story. What are the spooky stories the older members enjoy talking about? The sample was a good introduction to the story but the best parts that include the crimes, gambling, greed and a suicide attempt will be covered in the remainder of the book.

This is a really informative review. It has helped me understand more of what the story will contain without giving anything away. I'm particularly interested to find out how Alan gets people to sit in the front pews at church!
I was already considering reading this book which is why I read the review, but I'm really looking forward to exploring this story, it seems to have a lot of different topics to unpack.

The title implies that the River Heights Church is haunted, probably because it was built on the site of a church that had been burned down. I cannot say that I've read a mystery set primarily in a church before. I want to see how Pastor Burke goes about restoring his church, and there's a mention of him getting help from 'ghosts of the past.' Thanks for the review!

The story has a unpinning taste, of the subject. The climax and the far fetched idea of Dorothy May Mercer is a Christian mystery suspense novel that follows Reverend Alan Burke—often called Pastor B—on his final pastoral assignment before retirement. The River Heights Church, once a thriving community hub, has fallen into decline, surrounded by eerie tales and ghostly rumours. Despite the superstitions, Pastor B is determined to restore the church through faith, love, and community renewal.
It's blend of mystery, faith, and redemption. If you're interested in a story that intertwines spiritual themes with suspense, this might be a great read for you!

I indeed appreciate Alan being a church leader, but his leadership didn't stop at the church, it goes beyond the church.
Alan did really show that leaders should always take the lead in every aspect in your journey in life.
