Re: Review of Curby

What a sweet and sad story. Sadness at the rejection of this baby by his biological parents, especially the father. How easy to is it to get rid of a baby while another who is yearning to be a parent is not able to have one of their own? Curby is a touching story of love, of a woman who has limited time to live being given a chance to be a mother. About a man with not much to his name giving his son unconditional love and a warn home. I would love to read more than just a sample to see how the story plays out and if Curby is given back to Nick. Kudos to author on a compelling story and for being awarded BOTD.

The book seems pretty interesting and heartwarming. And though the reviewer says it lacks emotions I believe it all depends on what you are expecting from the book you are reading. I consider rather emotional Nick's grief about Sandra's death and his inattentiveness because of this which resulted in Curby's getting lost; then his "fight" with the child protection and adoption services to prove that Curby is legally his without any birth certificate and then there is a "surprise" which is very intriguing. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!

What an insightful review! The book sounds very interesting and I have downloaded the book and added it to my reading list. I prefer shorter books as I have to prioritize my time so this book seems perfect! The plot sounds interesting and so do the characters. Thanks for a well-written review!

Curby is a story of a widower trying to make it in life with his son. However, its not so easy. A child needs a mother and a nanny cannot substitute for her. The book covers issues like child adoption and protection, as well as drug addiction and violence. The book is an excellent read. Thanks for your review.

Nick and Sandra are such awesome people to adopt Curby. It just goes to show that family goes beyond blood ties sometimes. The characters are well executed as well. Congrats on BOTD.

This short novel or novella sounds like an interesting combination of genres, all of which I like! Perhaps the author should expand it to full novel length by developing the key characters to a greater depth. This could also permit space to explore the many emotions arising from the various issues dealt with in the story. Good review!

I almost admonished whoever left a baby wrapped up in a box, not nearly nice enough as a Christmas gift, and left him on the street. However, after seeing the themes of substance abuse and murder, I'm sympathetic to Nick and Curby's biological parents. Quite an intriguing narration and one that is very relevant today. Congrats on the BOTD.

What a great book to read this sounds like! Such a tale is exactly what I want to read. It's been reported that some people have kept babies they found on the street. If this is even loosely based on a true story, I'd like to know about it. I'm really interested in reading it to find out what happens to Curby!

I certainly would love to know how this turns out in the end, and how Curby and Nick lived their lives. I usually lean on to these types of dramatic books about family, so I know I would give this one a try.

Thank you so much for the review!

I love to read family sagas and believe that "heartwarming story of family bonds and love" is the next best thing. The story of strangers joined by circumstances and despite the tragedies and suffering on the journey to become a real family. Somewhat sad, but also very kind book about good people. Thanks for gifting it and congrats with BOTD!

This review got me thinking, did Nick get to keep Curby? I'm intrigued by the rating and the plot which indicates a suspenseful story.

Today's book of the day tells the story of family bonds and love. I feel for Nick as he has grappled with a wife's cancer and Curby's adoption. It sounds like an interesting book to read. Congrats to the author for being the #BOTD!

Nick seems to be a good father to Curby however, I'd like find out if he's able to keep Curby afterward. Nicely written review.

In the three years Sandra had to live, they could have gotten custody, or maybe it’s really hard to get custody of a child. Seems like a nice story though.

This is an excellent review of an intriguing book. The plot seems a bit too sad for my liking, with topics such as cancer, child abandonment, and drug abuse issues. I appreciate that the book is short yet impactful for readers who cannot devote hours to a longer plot. Well done!
