Strong Heart by Charlie Sheldon is the story of a girl named Sarah, her grandfather and his friends, William and Myra. Together they go on a camping trip. Some days later, Sarah goes missing.

Strong Heart’s main character, Sarah, is an orphaned teen who is sent to live with her grandfather. She is smart but has an attitude. Tom, Sarah's grandfather, is not fond of the fact that Sarah came to his house without anyone telling him. Tom and Sarah do not get along at first, but a friendship starts to shape up. William is Tom's friend, and he has a daughter that joins them on the trip.

Sarah goes through a series of traumatic events, and she finds herself in a canoe with people she has never met. They are heading for a foreign land where people have learned to look for other lands to help themselves keep sustainable lives. The people mistreat her, but in the end, they all lighten up. Some of them even become her friends. During Sarah’s adventure, she witnesses lots of bad things, and she suffers life-changing injuries. As a result of both, Tom's and Sarah's braveries and strength, they manage to find Sarah and bring her home. Even so, Sarah is scarred both inside and out.

I was confused in some parts of the book as to what was happening in some of the paragraphs which contained a continuous place and time changes. I only found insignificant and minor mistakes, in little quantity. Apart from that, the book is notably well-edited, and the author’s writing is exceptional.

I would recommend this book for campers, young-adults, nature lovers and history enthusiasts. The book may be violent at times, but it is engaging and informative when it comes to dealing with problems. Strong Heart is also educational on the people's past and its unique history. I would highly recommend this book for people who have read The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, because of the adventures and all the nature associated scenes connecting such books.

I rate Strong Heart four out of four stars as it is well-edited; the plot is written with care; the descriptive aspect of the book is on pointe and the characters are enjoyable as well as funny; their personalities kept me hooked on the story. I did not rate Strong Heart three stars because of the interesting characters, exceptional plot and the author's attentiveness to his writing.
