I just finished reading The Last Song,It was boring at the beginning, but at the end I couldn't stop the tears. Honestly, I only read it because my younger sister insisted that I do, and it may not be a great book, but I'm glad I read it.
If anyone read it, let me know what you think.

I found it typically repetitive of Nicholas Sparks. Imo just same old same old. But I think by that point I was getting pretty much fed up of his books so it was just last nail in the coffin for me, but thats just me.

Yeah I heard that his work is repetitive, that's why I didn't want to read it in the first place, but it was the first book I read for him, so I enjoyed it, or at least I enjoyed the last part

Repetitive? I'm surprised he even bothers to change the titles

I read one and that was enough. Did I mention I am partial to happy endings

Primrose, on contrary, I'm in love with sad endings I think something is wrong with me, I just want every book to make me cry my eyes out

I do like it when a book can make me cry (especially if I'm not expecting it) because imo, it takes a bit of skill for an author to elicit such a strong reaction from a reader which is why the first book I read of Nicholas Sparks was ok, it made me bawl like a baby but when you have that repeated for every single book after that, it just becomes ridiculous. So if you've read one, you've read them all

Hey I get some people like him, my cousin is an avid fan as well. To each her own, I say

I like to read Sparks, but I do find the beginnings are so boring I suffer through. In the end I am glad I did. The Lucky One was on of those. I remember reading the beginning of the book was very painful. At the end I was happy I had read it and look forward to the movie when it comes out. I can only guess that The Last Song will be the same. I will have to check it out.

Though critically acclaimed, after reading the Last Song, it seemed not a book but a soap opera. There wasn't much idea to the book and the story carried no lesson to be learned, simply a collection of sad events happening to a troubled teenager.

I wasn't aware that Nicholas Sparks was considered a writer of Classics. I'm sure some of his works may be considered for the honorable title sometime in the future, but for now he's just a great writer.

i enjoyed the last song, but i am a fan of nicholas sparks.... but again on that note i agree with a lot of you, his books are very repetative but i dont read more than one of his books at a time, i usually read a few other books inbetween that are completely different to his and i find a tend to like them more that way.

I only like one out of three Sparks books. There's so many of them! I typically try to stay away from anything that appears to be "fad" books/readings. I caved to a friend and read Dear John last summer. I actually really loved the book! But the movie was atrocious. Then again, we all know book to movie transitions can be rough. Last Song I really surprised myself by reading too right after it. And I liked the movie! I figured I was on a role with Sparks after liking two in a role so I decided to quit while I was ahead, ha. Anyone LIKE any others he's written? It is kind of nice for a beach read.

I for the most part like reading his books if I want a good cry. The Last Song especially but that is because I related with the father being sick and passing away. Even though most of his books are repetitive they are in some way relate able. (Even though I want to throw the book out the window because of most of his unhappy endings.)
