This is one of my all time favourite books. It is a fairly simple story but the mystery that surrounds the main characters is so complelling, I could not put it down. I also found the relationships between the characters very compelling. Has anyone else ever read it?

I read Drowning Ruth when it was an Oprah pick. The complex relationships are almost a little edgy; I wanted more of the characters to 'break through' that wall of dysfunction. I found this book to be an intense read, and a story that you don't easily let go of when the book is finished. It was enjoyable ... I may read it again some time.

I enjoyed the mystery, but thought some actions of the characters were incongruous with their natures.

I liked it because it turned out to be something completely different that I was expecting - did not see the revelation at the end coming.
