This terrific book combines the intricacies of a wife and husband relationship against the backdrop of the rugged Alaskan landscape. The writing is concise and appeals to male readers because of the homestead outdoor writing while depicting what it must be like to be female and lonely in such a brutal wilderness. Also combines great elements of folklore.

This is on my list of books to read. My niece read it, and couldn't praise it enough.
