Backcomb & Tattoo by Shea R Embry is a book about friendship, a friendship of an elderly woman with her young friends. She is Aunt Mary Opal, who is suffering from terminal ill, that sorounded by Rachael, Jesi and Nichole who are her loyal and fun friends. Although they are best friends, but Aunt Mary Opal do not share her illness to her friends because she just wants her last days fill with joy and happiness. Therefore, she keeps her sickness as a "little secret" and enjoys her friendship through drink, having adventures and more funny moments.

This story is not only about laugh and happiness. More than that, there are mixed feelings like sadness, happiness and emotional sense in it. How tear, laugh and anger come and go. It is packaged with each charakter's problems-Rachael and her long marriage relationship, Jesi with her family, Nichole with her relationship with emotional abuse, and Aunt Mary Opal with her secret and misterious life. These problems unite them and show how care they are each other.

This story is sweet and touchy. The author successfully describes each moment as the readers can feel the feeling of the story. She creates strong characters as the readers feel like know in personal with them-Aunt Mary opal who is assertive, Rachael who cares others than herself, Jesi the impatience one and Nichole the clever woman. Sometimes, there are debate and conflict between them, but then they get chill again. Then, the author with her capability, also successfully attracts curiousity of the reades not to stop and skip each page of the novel by giving some intrics and secrets in the story. She makes readers are wondering what will happen next to the characters.

For me, this book is an easy reading novel that I give 4 out of 4 for the excellent editing. The writing is clear and neat. This book is recomended for the one who likes story which females as the dominant characters. It is not recomended for you who prefered heterosexual romance story because there is only a little part that describe about love here. And it is about lesbian love story moment. But, if you need a book of positivity, spirit and motivation to life happier, you can give this book a chance. As Aunt Mary Opal has said, "have fun, it's the best thing to have."
