Review by SomaKenya -- Man Mission by Eytan Uliel
Man Mission is not only an exciting fictional adventurous tour of the world, build around the life story of four men and told from the eyes of the all too hilarious narrator;Charlie Brown, who knocks us out by how his whinning and soft character so ably wins him the pink bracelet 'award' unopposed but also a journey of man in soul searching .
All of life's aspects from a male point of view are discussed in a gloves off manner making it an all time best life coach book, shelf prescription from me;thank me later. Man Mission looks at human life post education and discusses the various life stages that ensue and how inevitably so and the first take home lesson is that we should not fight rather enjoy and embrace the inevitable aging life serves us.
For starters, work life has been covered through out the book;Charlie feels trapped (aren't we all)so candid was he with what he went through year after year that he's able to crack open our harsh realities right before our own eyes, he makes a choice most of us continue to make and from his experience he emancipates us, want to be freed? Grab a copy. The candour made the story very relatable and one had no choice but to empathize with the current real life situation of the boy child.
Marriage, as a vital pillar of human life has been holistically looked at from the rosy stage of dating and early life after marriage to the miraculous stage of introducing another life to earth that is a couple's forever responsibility(together or separated) and worth noting is how hilariously Charlie summarizes the stage of the new life in it's baby stage as 'an all time popping stage by popping machines'.
The narrator is so truthful with the unfolding of their marriage without holding anything back whether it be against him or not, such that by the time he brings about how we as women neglect not only ourselves but also our husband's after child bearing, as a woman I can only accept the bitter pill without an attempt to defend us.
Eytan, also tackled marriages' evil step sister; divorce, expansively and unlike most cases known of, he shares how he tries to fight for his marriage, and this evoked tears in my eyes and I emapathized with Charlie.
The book layout and plan is with no doubt a ten. It was easy to follow through albeit it being a two in one story. That is very commendable to Eytan. Moreover, it is a well written book that is devoid of mistakes worth mentioning.
It is a book that took me to a journey around the world alongside, Sam, Daniel and Alec who are Charlie's close comrades. The book will by all means be a traveller's go to reference on where to bounce off next. The fifteen missions were nothing short of epic, and all this build on in an ascending manner, the last mission will for sure leave you begging for more just like it did me. I therefore rate Man Mission a perfect 4 out of 4 stars as it reminded me that what we always search for without is always within.
