Review by nenye-christy -- Strong Heart by Charlie Sheldon
Strong Heart by Charlie Sheldon brings a sharp, mental reminder of soul wrenching epic movies watched in the past. Sarah, a young girl, who has a flair for drawing is taken by her grand-mother to her grand-father, Tom. Tom, his friend, William, and William's daughter, Myra, take a 'stroll' into the neighbouring valley close to Tom's home. Whilst on that visit, Sarah accidentally gets caught up in a hole that takes her back through space, and time. The book entails a great chunk of her strange adventures.
I found the story mind-blowing. It was a though I was floating on the waves of the ocean in this girl's epic adventures. Her experiences were both thrilling, and horrifying. The author's writing pattern, was a blend of uncommon, worded, illustration of events, as well as a creative, and brain storming storyline. I loved the way the story was built from the beginning to the end, as well as the excitement, and curiosity created as one read through the pages of the book. Sarah's character stuck with me. She was not only brave, but she was intelligent, smart, decent, and resilient. Her resilience helped her survive her terrible ordeals in the course of the story. I believe that the impact the story had on me, goes as a credit to the author, for being able to pen down such an amazing story. It was easy to understand what each page had to offer, no part of the story was vague, or needed further personal analysis.
What I loved most about the story was the way the author combined the past with the present. It was blended in a way that gave the story one big picture. It was though at a glance, you were looking at a landscape scenario in story form. It was quite difficult to separate parts of the story. This blend, in my opinion, shows the outstanding creativity of the author. I disliked nothing about the book.
I also found the book to be well-edited. While I read through the pages of this book, I encountered no errors.
I am rating the book 4 out of 4 stars. The book deserves an outstanding ovation, and if transformed into a motion picture, will be a blockbuster.
I am recommending the book to young people. I believe a lot can be learnt from Sarah's character, especially in her resilience against sexual abuse. Also, lovers of epic adventures, can also gain a lot of educative, and mind-blowing entertainment, as they read through the pages of this book.
