Hello, My Love by Evy Journey is a romantic novel with some good twists and turns to it that make it worth the read. Elise is the only daughter of Dr and Mrs. Halverson, who have provided a secure, loving home for her and her brothers. She is a law student and fiercely independent. She’s never really been in love, and she has a strong dislike for men with reputations as womanizers. Greg is engaged to married when he and Elise meet in her father’s office. He has a reputation as a playboy who’s really never been in love either. She dislikes him at once, but Greg is intrigued by this beauty who doesn’t flash her eyes at him and flirt. Over Elise’s best intentions, they become good friends who both have a desire for the other that they keep hidden until one fateful night that changes both of their lives. Hello, My Love is like a good Hallmark movie. The reader knows from the beginning what the ending will be, but the way the characters get there is the intrigue. Each love story is different, and so is the story of Elise and Greg.

This book was a quick read, as are most romance novels. I was caught up from the beginning in wondering how the two characters would resolve their differences and overcome the obstacles they faced. I appreciated how the author titled each chapter and used a different point of view in each one. She developed the characters thoroughly, from confident, determined Elise to Greg’s mother, Mrs. Thorpe, who was at first glance cold and condescending, but truly had a heart filled with love for her family. Mrs. Halverson, Elise’s mother was portrayed as a warm, loving mother, who would fight for her cubs when necessary, and her father as the strong, protective dad who was in control at all times.

There were numerous love scenes in this book, some of them pretty descriptive, but they added excitement to the story. I did not find them offensive, nor did I consider them graphic. Without them, it would have been a “he kissed her goodnight” book. The story ran much deeper than a kiss goodnight, and the attraction between Elise and Greg made it sensuous and gripping.

I liked very much how the author named the chapters of this book, giving you a hint of what would happen next. Titles such as “Intermezzo” and “Resolution” give a hint of what’s to come without giving it away. It made me read on to find out what that title meant and how it pertained to the story. The only thing I disliked was how the story lingered a bit after I felt it should be over. The conclusion seemed a bit drawn out to me.

Hello, My Love is very well edited. I did not find any editing errors at all, and I don’t remember any profanity. I believe it’s best suited for mature readers because of the love scenes and the overall story line. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It’s one of those books I reach for when I need something uncomplicated but absorbing to read. With this story, I came away smiling and satisfied
