The fat lady's low,sad song is a book based on baseball by Brian Kaufman. The book explores the life of an aging baseball player Parker after he is dropped from a major league and shipped off to play in a minor league.

The book describes parkers struggles to get back on top and also highlights his role in the success of his teammates especially Courtney a young female pitcher who struggles to find her way in an all men's game and proves to everyone that she's not just a publicity stunt.

The author takes you through the highs and lows of the team. Self sacrifice, devotion, hardwork and team spirit is displayed not only by Parker but also by his teammates. Parker's love for the game, his fans and devotion to his family is the driving force for every decision he takes. The book has a very realistic plot and reasonable ending which see's the players achieving thier goals and letting go of some.

I really loved how the author gave a glimpse into the lives of other players helping me understand the reason for some things they do . Also the banters between the players on and off the pitch made me laugh alot. I applaud how they stood up for each other while handling their rough relationship with the coach.

The downside for me in this book would be the title which would put off a prospective reader because it gives no insight on the storyline.

The romance in this book is mainly one-sided hence, I do not recommend for those looking for strong or steamy romance. However the overall book was well written, the author paid attention to little details and was enjoyable to read. It would suit readers in general even those who are not avid baseball fans.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. No typos were spotted which shows it was professional editted. I would warn though it contains more than a handful of swear words which is quite expected from a book on sports. The author couldn't have done a better job with the content and he has planted in me a "seed" of interest in baseball that will hopefully grow over time.
