Review by tayloremily -- Strong Heart by Charlie Sheldon
In this cute story called Strong Heart, by Charlie Sheldon, there’s a family of three generations discovering each other for the first time as their world’s collide. I give this book 4 out of 4 stars. There aren’t any noticable errors and the story is a cute family style book. I give it this rating because it’s different than any book I’ve read and I loved it. Also, because there were no errors, I gave it a 4 star rating.
I like that there is a story of a family that goes back generations teaching the young to appreciate life. This teen is grumpy and ungrateful as many are now in this younger generation. I like to see older good influences shape a young wayward mind for the better, keeping traditions alive and teaching morals and respect.
In summary, Sarah is a wild child bouncing from person to person in her family. After losing her parents her grandmother decides to help. Soon she decides to pass her along to her grandfather, they are divorced. As Tom, her grandfather and Sarah get acquainted, they are hoping she will become more in tune with the world around her. As a teenager, having been through hard times, passed around and being quite cynical, they know it’ll be hard for her to open up to those around her for a change of perspective. The crew goes on an adventure to an old grave site in and out of valley’s and hills, encountering wild life and more. These things become too much for Sarah. Sarah with her anger, makes this a difficult task. Will this girl become the loving granddaughter they hoped she’d be? Not knowing their granddaughter existed to begin with until now, this will be one crazy ride.
I recommend this book to all ages. Even young teens could get into this book. This book does seem to be professionally edited. I loved reading this book. I love the wilderness and hiking myself, that made it more fun to read. I felt like I was part of the story.
In conclusion, as much as I liked this storyline, I would have liked to see more things happen. I feel like it focused too much on the granddaughter instead of each person. I guess that’s the point of the book. I’m just a fan of having more to go off of for each character. I don't think this would get in the way of enjoying the book for anyone.

I absolutely loved this book too because it piqued my interest throughout the whole story. I also agree with you about wanting the focus to be shared equally on each character. My favorite characters were Myra and Sergei; there is so much chemistry between them even though they constantly argued due to their different perspectives on the origin of modern humans. I really appreciate all the underlying messages that Charlie Sheldon presents in his book, such as immersing oneself with nature, connecting with one's ancestors, and righting past wrongs.
