Backcomb & Tattoo by Shea R. Embry is a wonderful novel all about finding love, and friendships worth the while. The novel even takes you through the struggles, events in the past, and thoughts of each character. Almost every event happens in Atlanta, Georgia, besides the vacations that are taken throughout the book. The train of events is never predictable, always keeping you on the edge of your seat wondering what is going to happen next.

In the beginning of the book Rachel meets Aunt Mary Opal. Shortly, before her mother's death. After a few months while traveling Rachel met the young and very impatient Jesi. The three later made a tradition called the Ladies Light Luncheon. Nicole later became the fourth member, on one of the most tragic nights of her lives. The trio had saved her life, the grief had planned to take over. From almost getting arrested to discovering new love and friendship Rachel, Jesi, and Nicole never forgot how their leader Aunt Mary Opal started it all.

There were so many touching details in this novel, I couldn't help but fall in love. The story did a great job showing every character's perspectives. Even if it was just a drop by character for only one chapter. Embry couldn't do anything but help you understand why they were there, what importance they had. By the end of this book everything will be traveling through you; love, grief, anger, sadness, and laughter.

I would recommend Backcomb & Tattoo to young adults and up. I would say this because there are some 'scenes' but at that, they are very brief. So if you happen to land in that age group and love books about new love, and the fast way's life can turn around. Pick up this book! And even if you don't just give it a try! My rating for this book is an all around 4 out of 4 . And the icing on the cake was that this book was extremely well edited.

In conclusion, Shea R. Embry has made a remarkable novel for young adults and up. On the edge of your seat till the very end, you'll want more. The title of the book is extremely well-chosen, considering the importance of those events. Switching perspectives, making you explore your emotions and the characters too, shows the talent this author has. And the way she can make you fall in love with the novel wanting more!
