[Following is the official OnlineBookClub.org review of "A Taste of Amber..." by Amber Libra.]

A Taste of Amber is erotic fiction; this short book that contains less than 100 pages and it is full of short stories that contain erotica. I did not enjoy this book as much as I expected to because I was not able to connect or relate to any of the characters.

Erotica

The main theme of this book is sex and the strange sexual fantasies that women have. This book has many different sexual situations; I’m sure any fan of erotic fiction would enjoy at least one of the short erotic stories that are in this book. This book also deals with fantasies and I found that it was more common for the women in this book to fantasize more than they have sexual experiences. I don’t think the erotica in this book was that good because the situations could get quite confusing and the scenes seemed to skip forwards or backwards. I think this book would appeal more to female fans of erotic fiction rather than men because the actual sex scenes tend to be quite fast. I did not sense the tension that sexual partners usually seem to have and I felt as though that took away a lot of potential from this book.

Writing Style

The writing style was OK, there were some poetic fantasy-like situations in this book that I really liked, I think the author was able to express the emotions and confusions of the female characters quite well and it was quite easy for me to get a sense of most of the character’s personalities even though the stories were quite short.

Final Thoughts

I did not enjoy this book because I felt that it was confusing at times because of the thin line between all of the characters fantasy and reality. I think it takes a certain type of reader to appreciate erotic fiction and I do not think most people would enjoy reading this book. If you are a fan of short stories and erotic fiction then you might like to check it; it is quite cheap for an eBook. I rate this book 2 out of 4 stars.

Warning: This book contains graphic sexual scenes, S&M, Violence and abuse. I would not recommend this book to anybody who is looking for a light read or anybody who is under the age of 18.

I don't feel this book is intended to be mainstream erotica. The writer seems to poke fun at the genre and the stories have underlying messages that could be missed if the reader has preconceived ideas. The subjects of mental illness, loneliness, corruption in modern society seem to be certain themes touched upon.I like the experimental style of the writing and how the writer is fully aware that she's using tools of self-publishing to convey her art.

The thin line between fantasy and reality is interesting. The dreamlike, 'confusing' style makes this writing different from 'erotica'.It's more literature with erotic content.

What is erotica but the fusion and confusion of fanstasy and fact?I do feel the genre of erotica in general is now reductive due to the vast amount of erotic literature being published on the internet by 'writers'.I sense that expectations are of a particular titilating, simplistic style.Erotic writing such as Duras and Nin is largely unread by the mass readers of porn/erotica and perhaps would not appeal either.

I know!, maybe you could do some editorial work for me?
Just tell me where you studied to get your masters degree in English that made you such and expert in writing.
Thanks!

No not a Masters degree but a BA in Literary Studies, although I may go onto do a Masters degree, thanks. You've put the apostrophe in the wrong place in 'character's' by the way...it's plural.....

Thanks for the feedback, although i was a bit disappointed that there were no comments on individual stories. Some stories are erotica, such as 'Kim's Model Behaviour'.It's published on an erotic literature website (with now over 26,000 hits!) so had to fit in with the guidelines.Other stories...I really just wished to showcase some of my writing and I totally enjoy just playing around with words and prose.I'm offering this book as a free PDF (you'll find it).
