REVIEW: An Untamed Heart by Lauraine Snelling
This is a book you cannot soon forget.
I received this book free for review from Bethany Publishing house and wasn't sure what to expect. One thing I can say, though, is don't even bother reading the back of the book for information. I was extremely disappointed in the description of this book in comparison to the actual reading.
Majority of the book focuses on Ingeborg Strand's family life on the farm and the seter in Valdres, Norway. The book takes place in the late 1800s, and the author did a fantastic job placing her characters in that time. Ingeborg learns love and loss, and the loss really upset me until I learned that this is actually a prequel to "The Red River of the North series". So I would advise you to read at least the first couple books of The Red River series prior to reading the prequel so you won't be as angry as I was.
As spring approaches, Ingeborg could not be more excited to escape to the seter, the only place she feels free from the strains of her ever nagging mother. But this time the seter has other plans for her. The book jumps to a second character, Nils Aarvidson, who, like Ingeborg, cannot wait to escape to the mountains where he feels free from the restraints of his family. But as fate would have it, Ingeborg finds an injured Nils and nurses him back to health. After spending the summer together at the seter the two fall in love, but their love is forbidden by the restraints of her farming family and his rich family life. At the end of the summer the two go their separate ways with promises of seeing each other again, but Ingeborg is correct in feeling that this would be their last meeting.
After learning the reality of an immense amount of loss in such a little time, Ingeborg must decide what she will do with her life. After meeting widower Road Bjorklund who is planning to emigrate to America, but is desperately seeking a mother for his son, she has a hard decision to make.
Overall, the book is fantastically written. The beginning of the book is rather slow, but that changes from time Ingeborg meets Nils until the end.

I've read all the series that follow and didn't realise there was a prequel with a young ingeborg until seeing your review 
I hope you continue to read the rest of the series of series (four series in total apart from the book you just mentioned), they were definitely an education for me in many ways. It will be interesting to learn more about the "before of" when everything in Blessing began
