My Review of "the Basement" by Vashti Quiroz-Vega

Post by Author C Bellehumeur »

The author sent me a promo copy of The Basement in exchange for an honest review. It was also kind of a birthday present; one that I was very excited to receive and eager to start reading.
I really enjoyed reading each chapter of this book and will happily pass in on to my pre-teen son, who could not help himself from reading a few lines over my shoulders from time to time. He asked questions along the way, but more so near the end. He wanted to know why Robbie went in the basement and, like me before finishing the book, needed to find out what happened to those who tried to help the frightened boy complete the task he had been given.
I won't reveal nearly as much as I did to my son because you need to read it for yourself. It's not just the story that is good, but also the way it was told.
If you love suspense and don't mind a bit of gore, I promise that you will not be disappointed by reading this book. You may think you know what will happen at times, but the author plants doubt in your mind and makes you want to keep reading to find out if your suspicions are correct, hoping that they are not. I could not put the book down!
The Basement was well written and all the character were very real. The fact that the base of this story could be real makes it all the more scarier. It made me gasp and gave me chills.
Within this entertaining and frightening tale is a good lesson to be learned.
Don't be afraid to buy a copy!
(Gave it 5 stars out of 5 on Amazon and Goodreads)
