Review of Sword of Darkness by Kinley MacGregor

Post by K-katastrophe3 »

Kerrigan is a king of darkness, the new ruler of camelot. Arthur and his knights of the Round Table have fallen. Kerrigan has the blood of a Merlin, though he chose the path of evil rather than good. He is known to be the most ruthless man in all the lands, making him most feared. He seems to be more demon than human. Seren was but a lowly weaver apprentice, determined on bettering her life. Becoming her own woman. But little does she know she is about to be thrown from the world she knows, to one of danger, adventure, and so opposite from all she has ever known. In fleeing men who claim to be good yet plan to kidnap her to be some mans life, she takes the hand of a man who will forever change her fate. Kerrigan takes Seren to Camelot, to kill her to claim the Round Table. However, his hand is stayed by her lack of fear for him, the man feared by all. Something about her sparks a bit of life in him, and he does what he can to save her, while still remaining the King of Darkness.

This novel was completely unpredicatable. From the beginning, I thought it would go one way, when in fact it went a totally different way. It was entirely refreshing. Not knowing what was going to happen, feeling like you did only to have it take you on an unknown adventure.

Seren was portrayed as a spirited woman, one unwiling to let her lot in life get worse than it was. She refuses to give up and is determined that everyone has a little bit of goodness in them. Kerrigan was a man whos lot in life started out horrible. He was never once shown an ounce of kindness, so when the time comes and he finds the Sword of Caliburn, why should he choose the path of light? These two are of opposite backgrounds, one of complete light, the other of complete dark. And boy do they take you on an adventure of a lifetime. You find the tales of Arthur, the knights of the Round Table, and Merlin are just that.. tales. Oh they are real, but the stories of them are not correct. Every character in this story is of some import, and most of them are endearing. There are many twists and turns that keep you on your toes.

Once i started reading this book I could not put it down. I read it straight of 5 hours. One of the best I have read. Give it a chance! You may love it just as much as I did.
