What the F-Bomb: A Cynical Look at Life as a Teacher by C.R. Endacott details the most dreaded and celebrated situations of being a teacher. I am a teacher, who has spent countless hours in the exact same circumstances that Endacott has described in this book. From awards night to dealing with children standing in line, Endacott has captured the truly harrowing experiences that teachers handle on a daily basis. I laughed out loud multiple times during the book and I believe any teacher would.

Let me be perfectly clear, this book is not for teachers who want to learn anything about teaching. This is for teachers to kick their feet up at the end of a long day and read about how other teachers are sharing the universal trials and tribulations of providing an education to the future of our planet. When you pick up this book, don’t expect to become a better teacher. Expect to laugh and feel better about the fact that you dropped an f-bomb in your head 40,000 times that day.

What I love about this book is the author’s unapologetic view on teaching and their feelings on common teaching practices. Throughout the book, the author provides little nuggets of information that directly contradict best teaching practices, but offer a light-hearted summary of the realities of teaching. These nuggets are joke tips (I hope) that will provide teachers with the perspective they need when dealing with students. The author has also, weaved mini cartoons into the narrative. These cartoons are hilarious and shocking, given that they are real conversations that occur in a school nearly every day. A few times throughout my reading, I gasped in disagreement at the author’s point. However, I reminded myself of the title of the book being cynical and I was able to laugh along with the point the author was making.

I enjoyed the entire book, but I need to highlight the most important section. Chapter 11 titled, “You Just Might Be a Teacher”, takes Jeff Foxworthy’s “You May be a Redneck” and applies it to the life of a teacher. Many of these jokes are stomach cramping funny. If you are a teacher and need a pick me up in your day, Chapter 11 is your one-stop-shop for laughs, inspiration, and that feeling of connection you can only share with another educator.

I am rating What the F-Bomb: A Cynical Look at Life as a Teacher by C.R. Endacott 4 out of 4 stars. The entire book is well-edited as I found no major grammatical errors. The story is absolutely hilarious and should be read by anyone who takes on the gargantuan task of educating the youth of this planet.

Sounds like a fun reading experience. However, not being a teacher, I'm not sure I would be able to relate to the situations described in the book.

This sounds like a great read. My mom was a teacher, and while I am not a teacher, I have spent a little time around classrooms and can appreciate your predicaments. I tip my hat off to you and your fellow teachers, especially now. I’m glad you enjoyed this book. Sometimes you just gotta laugh (and perhaps swear
