Review by emidio125 -- Strong Heart by Charlie Sheldon
Set in the Olympic Peninsula and the North Pacific Coast Strong Heart is the first book of a series written by Charlie Sheldon. And it narrates the story of a lonely orphan who undertakes a journey as old as humanity itself.
In the story, Sarah Cooley, a youngster, troublemaker and lonely orphan ends up in the Olympic Peninsula, in a search for her grandparents. Soon as she reaches there, she meets her grandmother Ruth, who after having enough of Sarah's behavior, dumps her at Sarah at her grandfather's house. Tom, who didn't even know he had a granddaughter, will be forced to deal with the rude and insolent granddaughter he has just won, and to help her get used to the new land, Tom and friends take Sarah on a camping adventure through the Olympic National Park. However, this will prove to be the most adventurous journey Sarah has been to. Sarah gets lost and wakes up in an unknown place. In that place she's given the name "Strong Heart", and there she experiences an abnormal surreal adventure.
The story narrated in this book is very interesting; the plot was really well worked out. I really liked the character's development; each and every character was designed to fit perfectly with their role in the story. The suspense is another positive aspect to tell about this story; the story is loaded with breathtaking moments. The drama was also well developed. I personally like Sarah's character; it is very deep and intriguing, you easily confuse her with an adult by the way she thinks, talks and acts.
Nevertheless, the use of ordinary adjectives to name some of the characters confused me; there were instances that I was making confusions between names and ordinary sentences. Furthermore, I do not recommend this book to underage readers; it contains deep and heavy content that may not be appropriate for kids, such as the extreme-violence scenes that the book portrays. Therefore, I do recommend this adventurous book to all mystery and suspense lovers, and to everyone who enjoys great stories. And I would like to see the progression of this story as I was left with doubts to fulfill as well.
Going forward, the book was well edited and written, congratulations to the author and publisher. I found very few mistakes and being so few, they didn’t convince me enough to rate this book less than 4 out of 4 stars .
