Official Review: Nemesis Horizon Project

[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Nemesis Horizon Project" by Eric Stephen Booth.]
World War II is ending, and there is an invasion of Earth by the Reptilians. They work with Earth's leaders to create human-reptilian hybrids. However, this project is largely unsuccessful, as most subjects do not survive, except for one who escaped from the facility. Over two decades later, we meet Seth, who is on his journey to self-discovery and occasionally notices abilities he does not understand. He does not really fit in and drowns himself in sex and drugs. His meetings with his lover, Alois, are eye-openers, however, and he gets to understand that he is at the center of an important war.
Nemesis Horizon Project by Eric Stephen Booth is a sci-fi fiction story that is based on some of the author's experiences. Firstly, readers that are put off by gay sex scenes should not pick up this book, as it is heavy on detailed, descriptive scenes of gay sex. The book contains some intriguing elements. A world where aliens come to Earth to help create hybrids of themselves and humans is always bound to pique my interest. Following Seth through his journey of trying to understand himself was also intriguing, as I didn't know what he was, even though I had my suspicions. I also have to commend the author for presenting an exceptionally well-edited book, as I didn't find any errors while reading.
Unfortunately, in my opinion, there are a lot of negative aspects of the book. The first negative aspect has to do with character depth. Throughout the book, we only get to know about Seth's personality, and even then, there isn't much to know about besides his constant urge to have sex. In fact, it seemed like a lot of the characters were introduced into the story just to have sex with Seth, and after having sex, we don't see or hear about them again until similar circumstances. I would have appreciated more information about Seth's passion, likes, and fears that didn't have to do with his sexuality. Even worse, no effort is put into giving detailed descriptions of emotions and events apart from the intercourse scenes.
Also, apart from the beginning part of the book, we don't really get to the sci-fi part until after about 60% of the book, and when we get to that point, there is quite a lot of information to digest, which creates a lot of confusion. Giving readers a gradual build-up of this part of the book from the beginning will definitely aid better understanding.
All things considered, I did not enjoy reading Nemesis Horizon Project. The unrelatable characters that lacked depth and poor plot development were my major issues with the book, and they convinced me to rate the book 2 out of 4 stars. There are some interesting aspects of the book, and it is professionally edited, which is why I didn't rate it lower than my actual rating. Mature readers who enjoy reading same-sex erotic novels will enjoy this book.
