Review of Strong Heart
Strong Heart the first book in the 'Strong Heart Series' by Charlie Sheldon is an adventurous mystery fiction which will draw every single reader's attention.
Thirteen years old Sarah suddenly appears at Tom's doorstep with her grandmother Ruth. Tom, ex-husband of Ruth, just then realizes he has an orphan granddaughter. He was packing to go for trekking into the Olympic National Park to visit his grandfather's grave along with his friend William and William's daughter Myra. Tom was having no choice other than to take Sarah along with them. The adults thought they were the one taking Sarah, but in real Sarah was the one showing way to them.
During the trip, Sarah was missing for 8 days, later she reappears from nowhere. All the others were unable to believe when she revealed the tale from people of another time and the unexpected skills she acquired. We readers will be mesmerized knowing the wilderness of the Olympic Peninsula which are illustratively depicted in the story.
The whole storyline of the book is fascinating. The simultaneous switching between the present and the ancient times are remarkable. The title of the book is just perfect. It clearly shows Sarah's brave and strong character at a very young age. I am really impressed on how she dealt with different situations without fear. The author succeeded in showing the characters to be real. This is an easy-to-read book with simple and beautifully written dialogues.
I started to read the story with considerable expectations. To be honest, at some point, I thought I would drop the book in the middle because the first half of the story was a bit lagging and repeating. But later on, I was too drawn to the story that I was unable to stop it anywhere in between. I kept on reading until I unfolded the mystery and suspense of the story.
I found very few mistakes, that too, about the placement of commas. It could be easily cleared by another round of proofreading. The mistakes will never interrupt the flow of the read. Therefore, I would like to rate Strong Heart 4 out of 4 stars
All those who would love to read and explore adventurous stories and who have a passion for nature, and ancient times will definitely enjoy this beautiful work as much as I enjoyed. There is no profanity or vulgar languages used, other than a slight gory violence as the ancient humans fall prey to natural predation.
