Let me start by saying I'm not a professional reviewer by any stretch of the word. I'm just a voracious ready that loves history. This book was wonderful and I couldn't put it down. I read it on my kindle so I think it was tough 600 pages and I finished it in a day and a half. I literally started up all night. It's the story of a young slave girl who becomes a spy for the Union during the Civil War. It has very interesting characters whole using the language of that period to weave a tale of pain, suffering, love, joy, fear and friendship. I highly recommend it to anyone with an interest in historical fiction.
