Review of Hello, My Love
Hello My Love is the love story of Elise, a young and beautiful soon-to-be lawyer, and Greg, a rich playboy with a bad reputation. Their story is full of love and heartache, they just click when they are together and are perfect for one another. After a year of texting every day and seeing each other every week, they seem set to cross a line from friendship to lovers after an amazing night together that they will never forget. Unfortunately, there is one big problem, Greg is engaged and about to get married, and even if Elise doesn’t want to be the kind of woman, there is something about Greg that is pulling her to him. After that one night , Elise swears to never see Greg again but life has other plans. Will Greg’s crazy fiancée cause trouble for them and can they find their way back to one another? A story full of love and drama is the first book in the Between Two Worlds series, a series that is very much like a telenovela with all the twists and turns you want in a love story like this.
Hello My Love brings us into the story after our two main characters already know each other and have already fallen for each other. I found this a refreshing subversion of the common trope of this genre. By doing this, the author, Evy Journey, was able to build up the tension of the dramatic and sexual scenes, with much higher stakes. The author used the tension effectively to draw the reader into a scene and add weight to the actions of the character and to their feelings, which made this book so enjoyable to me and keep me engaged to the end.
I enjoyed a lot of the book and only had one scene that I did not like and that made me feel uncomfortable. Without giving away any twist, this scene was effectively used to show one character changes their mind and making a big decision. With that being said, the scene does put a particular organisation in a very negative light and presented a perspective I do not agree with, but I know some people do think this way in the situation portrayed and other people will probably agree with this portrayal of the organisation, so this may not bother other readers. I am unsure if this was intentional by the author or accidental, so I am not taking any stars off for it.
This is an exceptionally well-edited book, with many highs and lows, the author manages to keep a balance between the drama and the love story and keep me hooked. This is a smooth short read, which is why I am giving it a 4 out of 4 stars rating.
If you are a lover of romance and telenovela this should be your next read, you will love the romantic story and all of its twists and turns. Hello My Love is the first book in the Between two Worlds trilogy, so you will be able to continue reading about Elise and Greg’s family's world. Evy Journey also has many other books and short stories for you to check out after you finish this book so after you read this book and like it you will have many more books to read after.
