Charlie Sheldon weaves a strong historical tale set in the breathtaking wilderness of the Olympic Peninsula and the North Pacific Coast. 13 Year old Sarah Cooley finds herself against her wishes on a journey with her new grandfather Tom-Tom and his friends. But soon she also finds herself on another journey into a time lost. Adventure awaits full of hardship and betrayal. Lessons need to be learned and trust gained. In seeking the truth she not only finds her Spirit but also her people who lived in the time before. Sarah becomes Strong Heart, she shows the people around her the true meaning of these two words. In this wilderness journey your heart will break for young Sarah as she has to survive abuses, not able to belong and being thrust into the care of people she never new existed. But true to her name she is strong and more than capable to survive the meanest spirit that dare cross her path.

Strong Heart is a well written story set in the very far gone past and the percent. Have you ever wondered what it must have been like to live thousand of years ago? To experience nature untouched by modern man and machine? Charlie Sheldon has done an excellent job transporting you into the world beyond our knowledge. As you read this book you can taste the freshness of the icy cold air, feel the motion of the swirling ocean beneath your canoe seat and feel the warm breath of an angry bear as your heart is about to explode with fear.

This well told tale brings the past and the present together and makes for an excellent read. I could hardly put it down. The characters is compelling and the journey that the tribes people undertake is beyond daring. A real eye opener. I truly want to learn more about the ways of the people that were before. The time and research that went into the writing of the book is truly exceptional. I cant wait to read the next book in this series.

It is a well written coming of age story suited for young adults. The book appeared to be professionally edited; I encountered no errors. I give this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars.
