The sheer amount of trashy drama in this book is outrageous! To put it in perspective, it’s the same type of sleazy entertainment that keeps you glued to your television for days at a time, unable to drag yourself away even though you want to.
It’s a simple read that keeps you wondering what possible secrets this family could be harboring. At first, I didn’t think it would be possible to relate in any way to these stuck-up rich girls and the problems that they have created for themselves. As the story progressed, though, I found that I could. Don’t get me wrong; they were still as snobbishly conceited as I had originally believed them to be.
The one issue I had with this book came early on. In fact, it was the prologue that almost had me closing the book up for good. Usually when a book has a family tree within its first pages, you know that there will be many characters to follow. The seventeen + characters introduced before the beginning of the first chapter what overwhelming! It was far too much to comprehend.
Other than that, I felt it was pretty well written. I especially enjoyed the seamlessness between the present happenings and the memories that ensued. Overall, I had a great time reading The Heiresses.
