Rachael LeBlanc gets home from nursing her very ill mother hoping to spend some time with her husband, the famous music artist Jake LeBlanc. But Jake may have had a better idea for her welcome. Rachael finds an empty messy house and a note from Jake stating that he was out to perform in a show. Perhaps the only good thing about that night was that Teri who lives in Rachael's neighborhood was hosting a party. It is at this party that Rachael meets the old and lively Aunt Mary Opal and they immediately spark an awesome friendship. The two women spend time together having fun and sharing life experiences. The two women, later on, unexpectedly meet Jessie and Nicole. Little does Rachael and Mary Opal know that these two women will be part of their family, brought together by a strong friendship bond. They all meet, drink, and share a lot. However, Aunt Mary Opal has a secret that she hides from her three friends. What secret is Aunt Mary Opal hiding? Will her three wonderful friends know about it? How will her secret affect her? How will it affect her friends? You should grab a copy of Shea R Embry's Backcomb & Tattoo to know more.

If you relish reading well-told character-driven stories, then Backcomb & Tattoo is a perfect read for you. Enthusiasts of fiction books about romantic relationships and family will love this book. Backcomb & Tattoo contains scenes with sexual content, although they are just a few scenes. Because of this, I recommend the book to a mature audience.

I loved Shea R Embry's style of writing. Her sentences are long and twisted, yet still comprehensible. She employs the use of expressions appropriately. Her choice of words is great, it gives the book a professional touch. Shea R Embry knows how to get the attention of her readers. She knows how to make her readers feel the emotions in her words. She does all this by creating suspense in her story and mounting a remarkable amount of sentiment in her words. The reader will find him or herself occasionally laughing or even crying. Backcomb & Tattoo is a great piece of work.

The reader will love the characters in the book. They are well developed and distinctively depicted. Rachael is kind, sweet, and persevering. She had been neglected in her marriage with Jake but she remained a loving and caring wife. Aunt Mary Opal is a tough, wise, and open-minded woman. She had been through a lot in her past life past and even her current life, but she still manages to embrace a lively mood wherever she is. I loved Aunt Mary Opal. Shea R Embry makes her irresistibly adorable.

The themes addressed in the book include sexual orientation, family, abusive relationships, and much more. The story has a good flow and is very spell-binding. Except for one instance where I noticed a missing word in the text, I did not find any other errors in the book. I must say, Shea R Embry, is undoubtedly a professional writer. I loved everything about Backcomb & Tattoo and I gladly rate it four out of four stars.
