Michelle, along with her two kids, Joseph and Pam, move to a new town to get away from her domineering, abusive husband. It is a challenge for all of them. The kids need to make new friends, start at new schools and get used to an environment without their father around. For Michelle it is perhaps, more difficult, she needs to learn to stand on her own two feet, after having been dependent on her husband for so long. She also needs to find a new job, and to settle herself and her family in this new place whilst keeping her children happy.
Joseph, ten years old, yet highly intelligent, studies everything around him intently. Yet, in his child’s brain he still reasons that his two parents should remain together, and that his mother is in error. With this, his father easily manages to rope him in to try and get inside information on his mother.
This story revolves around a mother and her kid, and the struggle between them to try and solve the situation in the way that they deem best. It is also a look at how a child perceives his mother when she meets a new person that might take her affections, and later perhaps even take the place of his father. This book is a portrayal about just how strong a mothers love is for her children and all the things that she is willing to give up for their sake.
Let It Be is a book of fiction written by Chad Gayle, and is published by Bracket Books. The theme of the book is mostly centered around struggle and loss, and also letting go of the past and moving on. On the whole the book did evoke sadness in me, yet it engrossed me at the same time.
The title of this story is taken from a track by The Beatles, by the same name. Its chapters are also named after tracks in that album. Although I thoroughly enjoyed the book and would highly recommend it to anyone to read, the references to the Beatles may not be so familiar to younger readers who are not familiar with that band or their work. I myself, am born after the generation of the Beatles so have not been exposed to much of their music. Other than that, it, was a very well written book giving both mothers and sons perspectives with equal validity. For this reason I will rate this book four out of four stars.

Apple2011 wrote:This is a helpful review. I had heard of this book, yet had no idea what it was about when I stumbled on this. Having been on both sides of the fence (a child going through a nasty divorce, and as a young mother having to leave my child's father), it would be nice to read another persons perspective on these sensitive issues. Also, it is apparent that the author has good taste in music! One of my all-time favorites! This will definitely be added to the "to be read" list.
This book seems to have been written for you

It is definitely helpful to read another persons perspective on such sensitive issues, if only for the fact to know that you are not alone in such tough times.
