An excellent book for learners of all stages of education, Andrew Johnston's "Fill the Gaps" resonates with every child, teenager, and youth in school and those who have immediately completed their education or were unable to do so. In the beginning chapters, the book challenges and motivates learners to take education and specifically career choices as important for their future life. Later in the chapters, it gives hope to those who did not complete their education for different reasons that self-redemption and success can still be achieved. Isaac's life is a mess compared to those of his friends majorly because he is a drop-out. The extensive discussion and advice on career choice for Isaac's friends enforce the importance of learners to consider career choices against interests but also against the available career opportunities and prospects.

Outside the education sector, it presents the understanding of the life of youths post their professional and career studies. The book answers the question of why many youths mess up their lives during their studies and after their graduations. The parties and peer pressure around Isaac and other characters show exactly why many of the youths are drawn into bad choices at such ages compared to early adolescent or later adult life. Every reader finds relevance and meaning in this book written in an easy to understand language for the general audience. The book warns teenagers and youths against wrong choices, and also gives those already dealing with consequences of wrong choices that all in not lost. The book can also be used by educators, guidance and counselors, and career advisors on what to focus on while directing the teenagers and youths through better choices in life.
