Incentives by George Franklin is a comical book that sheds light on corruption in politics and the frenzy fueled by media exposure making it easy to promote valueless businesses. In this novel, George has used a satirical approach to bring out the lives of different characters that benefit from government funds and other grants by faking their way into acquiring them. The plot is based in a small town called Glenn in Michigan, whereby these self-proclaimed entrepreneurs try to revive its economic standards. Red Johnsson works in the town's economic development by drafting promising business ventures that are presented under the board that awards government funds. He sets out to enrich himself and a group of other characters by making up ridiculous business ideas that garner him a very lucrative income.

This book contains many characters. Some of them include Armando and Rosa, who are potheads who smoke all day and see an opportunity to be funded by the government to create medical alternatives of medications. Bogey and Skeeter from Haiti also come to Glenn under the promise of getting a six-figure paying job. A crisis of sorts makes them very famous, and they are called to do shows all over the nation. They immerse their fortune by creating a series of dinners that their friend runs. Senator Jaap and his wife Berdenna are also characters in this hilarious novel. Jaap, who is starting to feel the pressure of almost retiring, finds creative ways to make a considerable income to cater to him after retirement.

This creative book has a very high level of expertise and effort made in creating it. It calls out the different government institutions and the media without pointing fingers at any of these institutions. Also, the ridiculousness of it all was very amusing. Seeing all these other characters and how they faked their lives to fame and fortune made me realize maybe that is what is happening. Also, the author has interchanged the characters in the plots, making it easy to remember them all and progress with the story accordingly.

There wasn't anything that I could use to criticize this book because it's a fascinating masterpiece. It is exceptionally edited because I found very few errors. The author has created a fun book that has many laughable moments. The whole book has a beautiful plot that is intricately written and keeps the readers wondering what will happen in future actions. At first, this book comes off as severe with a lot of political knowledge, but you realize that there is nothing serious about it as you move on.

I would rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. It is wonderfully executed, and I enjoyed reading it immensely. I would recommend this book to an adult audience, especially lovers of novels based on politics. It does contain instances of profane language that would be inappropriate for a younger audience.
