Man Mission: Four Men, Fifteen Years, One Epic Journey by Eytan Uliel is classified as other-fiction, a novel that follows four friends who value nothing but adventure. Every year, they go on a wild trip that lasts for the entire week. As life goes on, they marry, divorce and separate with their partners. Surprisingly, their friendship stays intact. This book portrays how life is in men's perspective. This includes how men feel, validation of their actions, the pressure that they go through, their weaknesses and strengths before marriage, during marriage and after divorce.

This book is beautifully illustrated. A chapter in the book marks the new destination. At the beginning of the chapter, a map is drawn highlighting the characters' destination. As a reader, you get to see where the characters are from as well as where they are going. A clear path is also highlighted where characters would be kayaking, hiking, cycling or whatever they decide to do in that specific territory. I enjoyed reading this book. Not in one instance, but countless times the author made me laugh so hard to the point where my ribs hurt. The language used here is descriptive, provoking imagery (I literally saw an unhappy Rachel resorting and demanding her fiance to grow up as she folded her arms across the chest and pouting.) Humour is also sprinkled throughout the book and there is profanity as well.

I loved Sam as soon as I met him. He is funny, confident, out going and what we call forward in today's language. I also resonated with Daniel. He is organised, disciplined and straightforward. In most cultures, a person of his calibre is not expected to have challenges of an average man. But he was tested in every way. It came as a shock to his friends that he is having the same struggle as them. To be honest, I was also taken aback. The narrator is quite a character as well. Imagine a man envying another man for having a six pack! I always believed that envy is for ladies. My favourite aspect is the maps, the popular quotes and biblical quotes at the beginning of each chapter.

I am not sure if this is a formatting error or the author's original design. But, the pages are designed in such a way that if the previous page is normal, then the next page is smaller. This requires the reader to zoom in the page to get a clear view. To proceed successfully to the next page, the reader needs to zoom out then turn the page. This process continues through out the book. I didn't like this at all, it slowed me down. Except for this, there was nothing I disliked about this book. I also noticed an inconsistency. It is described that it was raining and the characters were soaking wet and covered in dirt as they were hiking in Fuji City. A couple of sentences later it says that they were tired and sweating. Is it possible to sweat when soaking wet through the rain?

Well, I did come across a couple of errors but overall I believe that this book was professionally edited. It flowed smoothly without many hiccups. There are no sexually explicit content but there are sexual advances of which everything is left to the imagination of the reader. I am happy to rate Man Mission 4 out 4 stars.
