Review of Man Mission
Man Mission by Eytan Uliel is the story of four friends. These friends for over a decade traveled annually to a total of fifteen different locations across the globe. This globe-trotting adventure began in New Zealand and ended in Iceland. It was a chance for them to get away from the everyday tasks of life and to pursue adventurous living outdoor. Their adventures included: ice-climbing in Iceland, ocean kayaking in Fiji, hiking in Spain, and cycling in Korea. Many Times, they combined two or more of those activities in a single trip. Each trip brings its challenges and joyful moments.
Much of this book is about the annual trips however; it was also about their lives as husbands, fathers, sons, and professionals. There were moments of humor throughout the book. There were moments of raw human emotion: passion, anger, disappointment, uncertainty, joy, and love. The author included the pink bracelet moments. The person who complained the most was awarded the pink bracelet. The book ended as it began with an outdoor gathering. It was a pleasant scene with family and friends having a good time.
I appreciated the eclectic mix of locations they chose for the trips. I appreciated the author's effective description of what was interesting about each adventure. The author's style of writing was engaging and I felt as though I was there on each trip. I appreciated the author's notations at the end of the chapter, signaling the end of another adventure. I appreciated that the author gave us insight into each man's personality. I liked the inclusion of details about their families, bringing authenticity to the story. Overall, I appreciated the cohesiveness and authenticity of the book.
There were two negative areas for me. I thought the choice of language in some instances did not add to the value of this book. I thought a few events highlighted were unnecessary.
I gave a 4 out of 4 ratings to this book. I found the book's editing to be very good . I found the book to be authentic and relatable because the idea behind the book is great. Everyone can appreciate an adventure or two. I think the author's style of writing was excellent because of how effectively he transitioned between events.
I think this book is best suited for adults because of certain aspects of its content. This book is suitable for people who enjoy reading about adventures or trips. If you love reading in general, you may find this to be an excellent choice.
