The plotline of Man Mission revolves around four carefree college friends eager for adventure, traveling throughout the globe every year - just like every college student eager to discover what the world has to offer and also, in some sense, proving their masculinity by overcoming perilous escapades or missions during their many adventures. As the narrative moves along, the eventful journey led by four friends Eytan, Sam, Alec, and Daniel throughout the past 15 years touches upon a number of important themes, such as friendship, the stereotype of men's self-sufficiency, parenthood, and life itself.

With the development of the story, the ‘Man Mission’ of the four men also evolves with time from thrilling explorations in a variety of places around the world to becoming men of responsibility who carry out their obligations as men while performing their duties in accordance with the conventional norms consistent with their gender.

The novel is told in the first-person narrative by Eytan, one of four men in the story, who acts as the protagonist. At first, the narrative follows a light pace, exposing the reader to the many exciting and adventurous experiences of the four men, allowing them to experience a little taste of the psyche of the adult age searching for adrenaline-filled experiences. Gradually, the focus switches to a second, more predominant theme, that of men's lives in general – a topic less discussed generally. As the author subtly illustrates the gradual changing of the four men's lives, the reader is able to witness the developments of characters as well as grasp many life lessons from their trips and their conduct in their personal lives.

Excellent writing, a great plot, and inclusion of humor, adventure, and important lessons make for a wonderful blend of fiction that doesn't disappoint. Man Mission by Eytan Uliel fulfills all the criteria for a page-turner fiction. This novel connects both to the male characters to whom the book is devoted as well as to the female ones who get to learn a great deal more about their male counterparts.

I can't think of anything in the book that bothers me. Though there is liberal use of profanity and a few sexually charged passages in the novel, which make it unsuitable for a younger readership.

I give Man Mission a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. In these times, when feminism and problems of women only seem to have gained tremendous momentum, the author Eytan Uliel deals with the real issues of men, molding them into a compelling story. I recommend the book for its travelogue aspect as well as the deep thought-provoking content it provides, which one can enjoy, be inspired by, and learn from.
