The book is about four adult men; Sam, Alec, Daniel and the narrator, who go on annual trips which began as a promise to each other while in University to go on these trips. This was a way of living their lives with adventure. They go on these trips to regain their "manliness" and be one with nature. Throughout their journeys they have hard experiences in their lives and the journey becomes an escape from reality. The book is full of adventure as they go around the world to different cities and countries such as; New Zealand, Japan, Australia, Thailand, Hawaii, South Africa and Iceland to name a few. They go on kayaking, hiking, cycling and ice climbing. They learn different cultures and food. The adventures become more than an escape and they learn a lot from each other's experiences and learn about themselves. The book describes their trips so well that a person reading would have urge to be there.
The title of the book is Man Mission.
The author's name is Eytan Uliel.

The positive aspect of the book is that there are a lot of lessons to learn. The missions or adventures they go to teach anyone who reads about the different country's cultures and food. They came across places where dogs and shark meat were part of the food menu. Even though the men could not indulge but it was interesting to know. The places had different liquor compared to the normal alcohol bought in liquor stores. While in Figi the old man in charge would prepare the alcohol and put it in shells, it led to the men zoned out until the following day. The form of entertainment was to sit outside smoke and sing.
The book shared an important part which was manhood. When the men were young, all they were taught was that a man should be strong and protect the family. They go to school, get a good job and provide for his family. The boys are not taught how to express their feelings and not allowed go cry and not be okay. The boys grow into men and bottle everything inside and not meant to complain. The book shows how important it is to express your feelings and talk about how a person feels. The narrator talks about not being able to talk to his wife and share his feelings of being afraid and overwhelmed by being a provider. The narrator ends up seeking counseling and shares his feelings which helps him a lot. Throughout the book all the men eventually seek help from therapists because they could not share their feelings. They realize how important it is.
The book shows marriages of the men being tested as they experience different hardships of life. All of the relationships have a similarity of the couples struggling with their feelings. Some are able to seek help and make a recovery but for some it is too late. Mistakes are made but it shows the importance of counsel and being able to appreciate each other. The missions became an escape from their marriages instead of facing their issues. When they face life threatening situations while on the mission, they would miss their families, which shows there is never really escaping anything in life, especially those you love. Over time the men had became family because they had shared their lives together and growing old together. It didn't matter what happened but they had each other's back. I like how the book had quotes to a man and by a man. Quotes by men in all genres of life including the Bible. It makes one think about all that is regarded as a man.

I do not think there is anything negative about the book. There was nothing that i did not like. It is a true man's perspective.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars.
I think the book deserves it because it was professionally edited and is a good read. It is filled with adventure and life lessons.

I recommend the book for young adults and adults. I think it is suitable for young adults to know how life is as an adult and what can happen. It can offer guidance on how to do things differently or similar to the men in the book. As an adult it can be life changing.
