Review of Man Mission
What's a better way to be a man than to go on enthralling expeditions every year with your best buddies? That's what Charlie, Alec, Sam, and Daniel do from their late twenties to their mid-forties— fifteen years of exciting and excruciating activities across the globe. From cycling in remote Japan to climbing ice mountains, they've experienced one of the manliest things they can come across. However, things take a different turn when the dread of reality creeps in their annual man mission. Will these grown adults manage between their family life and the utopia of Man Mission? Man Mission by Eytan Uliel documents each year in full detail, capturing the highs and lows along their journey.
The best thing I could say about this book is that you will never feel bored while reading it. The fact that every chapter is a new destination and adventure makes you captivated to know where the next Man Mission is held, or what crazy idea could manifest suddenly. Even though there isn't exactly a plotline, the author did wonders to make it engaging and unexpected.
This book is a perfect mix of humor and seriousness. First of all, who does not like funny books? No matter how old the four men are, they all still have a bit of a silly child ingrained in their characters. But despite that, a lot of the contents in this book display powerful messages and life lessons. The story discusses topics from building and fixing relationships to deciding career paths. It also teaches us that no matter how hard things could get. We should always stay optimistic and not doubt ourselves, whether hiking challenging trails or experiencing your millionth heartbreak.
Another thing I find interesting is how relatable this book is. It shows how men are sometimes not the strongest when facing life's toughest challenges, and that's okay. As a woman, it is also interesting to see life in the eyes of men, such as their views of love and being an adult.
From typing all of the above, there is no way I'll give a rating of below four stars for this one. Man Mission deserves a solid 4 out of 4 stars rating for the exciting experience it put me through. Moreover, there were zero mistakes present in this book, which means that the editing was exceptional!
Overall, if you have a love for traveling and feel a bit adventurous, do pick this book up! It's like a travelog with a twist and a storyline. However, do mind that it is targeted toward mature audiences as there is a lot of profanity and adult jokes.
