Have you ever imagined waking up in a world different from the one you know yet similar? What happens when you discover that the things you once held in high esteem are of no significance? These are some of the plights Newton Flotman encountered in the book As it is in Heaven by Winslow Nicholas. The book explores the themes of love, technology, and development.

This book has a futuristic setting and follows the story of Newton Flotman, a man who wakes up after being asleep for more than eight hundred years. He finds it hard to come to terms with the development he beholds and the new system in place. Having no recollection of his past, he seeks to know more about his identity, but he soon discovers that there is more to what he sees than he understands. A relationship develops between himself and Karla. With time he begins to understand the way things are being done in this new world, and he learns to adapt. What secret remains to be discovered in this seemingly perfect world? Read this book to find out.

Winslow Nicholas exhibits his writing prowess in weaving together intrigue and fervor. Although the plot focuses on a broad subject matter that revolves around evolution, the author left no stone unturned in simplifying the message being passed across. The author's in-depth research while writing this book is evident in the detailed act of technology in play in this book. The characterization in the book is diverse but well constructed.

One of the things I love about this book is the simplicity portrayed by the author when elucidating things related to technology. I enjoyed the learning aspect of the field that I once found boring, and I was eager to know more. For instance, I was interested in learning more about how the spacecraft worked, just like Newton wanted to be fully informed since it used an unaccustomed technology. I was fascinated by Winslow's thoroughness when it comes to elaboration. My favorite character is Karla. I love her caring nature, especially when she was worried about the twins due to what she had seen when she once went to their home.

One thing I dislike about the book is that it was not properly edited. I came across several grammatical errors that affected my reading experience. For this reason, I rate the book 3 out of 4 stars because the errors cannot be overlooked as they will impede the reading journey of the reader.

In conclusion, readers will be fascinated by the technological advancement found in the book. I recommend As It Is in Heaven to lovers of sci-fi stories. Readers will be enlightened on how technology can be used to satisfy the needs of individuals, particularly in a world where priority is not placed on one's desires.
