Review of Man Mission
An idea formed while bonding at a food fair turns into a fifteen-year journey that sees four friends tackle life's twists and turns together. In Man Mission four young men decide to go for annual getaways where they can be men; no whining, otherwise there's the dreaded pink bracelet. Aside from that, they have to go through the daily routine of living. They get jobs, change jobs, marry, have children, break up and divorce and go through the pain of losing a loved one together. In this epic journey of life in all its grungy aspects the four men find out more about themselves and how to appreciate what they most care about.
Man Mission by Eytan Uliel is an excellent introspective account by the narrator who, even while narrating their adventures, gives an accurate look into life its and hurdles. The plot is well laid out and the characters are well developed making the reader connect with them almost on a personal level. It has an exciting storyline with adventure after adventure so that one wants to know what will happen next. The humour also comes across well and one would not be amiss to consider it more of a comedic genre. Right from the start, when things begin to go awry on their first mission, the book captures the reader's attention and imagination and I really liked that about it. The flow of the timeline is also exceptional over the fifteen year period marking the men's milestones making it an easy read. I also liked the fact that there were no errors as far as I could see and this also makes it easier for the reader to follow the narrative. Eytan Uliel demonstrates his prowess in storytelling in how he brings the book to a close. I loved the ending; quite poignant and leaves you with a desire to do some serious soul searching.
Eytan Uliel has really outdone himself in Man Mission and one can't help but see him giving his all for this epic adventure. I really liked the book but feel that the repetition of the hiking really got a bit tiresome. One would have hoped to see more activities in place of the hiking but, all in all, it is a really enjoyable read.
I would give Man Mission by Eytan Uliel a rating of 4 out of 4. This is because of the lack of mistakes such as typos and grammatical errors which makes the book a real joy to read. The plot is well laid out and storyline well delivered and this also makes it preety enjoyable.
I would recommend the book to anyone who loves a good story with a bunch of hair-raising adventures thrown in. Also anyone who just wants a good book to relax with and get some laughs out of.
