A journey of a thousand miles, they say, begins with a step in the right direction. So are the fifteen years of adventures of the four-men group. What starts like a flimsy wish by the narrator in his university days eventually metamorphoses into real life expeditions across the globe. At first, it is just he and Sam. Gradually, Alec and Daniel buy into the idea and form a man mission with a charter and a committee for planning and direction. As custom demands, they diligently work out their ways up the scale to build their respective homes and have a family to call theirs.

As a graduate student in law, he never wants any other thing than to practice law, but his father advises him to accept the job offer he gets with a firm. To crown his success, he gets married to Rachel, his fiancee. The rest of the men-fold are as well married. Going further and farther in the mission, the four men travel from New Zealand to Japan, South Africa, Peru and so many other ends of the earth carrying out real men sessions and sightseeing. Unfortunately, the narrator slips into an extramarital affair with Lara to the chagrin of his wife and children. You must be wondering what will be the result of this and so many other things not mentioned. Why not find out from Man Mission by Eytan Uliel.

I feel highly uncomfortable seated here while these guys are over there being natural and being overly at peace. That is the height of the sensation that Eytan has woven into his novel. Reading Man Mission by Eytan Uliel feels like opium to a wandering heart. Apart from the narration, the nature of the presentation of the expeditions is apt to lull one into a deep sense of self and attachment with the characters.

My unconscious attachment with the characters of Daniel and the protagonist is such that I find myself removed from reality into the world of the novel. Aristotle will be pleased with Eytan for this. Besides the reality of life against fantasy as seen in the marriages, I also acknowledge that this novel was perfectly edited. At first, I felt like tilting my head to be sure I was not dozing. As funny as that may be, it is the mark of Eytan's literary prowess. This is a mission accomplished.

Somehow, I feel like it is not proper to write in both present and past tenses. It is observed that the novel is partly written in the present tense and partly in the past tense. Again, the concealment of the protagonist's identity appears odd, but that is a literary style too. I see it as a writing style since he can manage it properly.

To that effect, I rate this novel 4 out of 4 stars. As I do not have any reservations against Man Mission, I have no reason not to give it a perfect rating. Everything is well crafted: from the language to the plot.

The romantic, adventurous, revelatory, expository and insightful features of this novel will be a good fit for couples, parents, and readers of romantic, adventurous and career novels. However, I advise against the minors reading it except otherwise advised by their parents. This is because of the slight sexual content therein.

Amazing review! I also didn't like that the name of the main character wasn't revealed through out the book but it didn't affect my reading experience.
