It's Not Over by J. Benjamin is a story about a Black-American lady who had various depressing life challenges thrown at her. Resented and envied by her family and people around her, she battled with low self-esteem and tried to build her confidence.

Stacy was adopted by Vicky, a greedy woman whose quest for more money, addiction to drugs, and laziness, made her believe she could make a lot of money without working for it. Vicky adopted as many children as possible and asked for child support to be paid to her by the government. This became her source of livelihood. Stacy, however, was unfortunate to have been one of Vicky's money-making machines. Stacy suffers abuse at the hands of her mother, who shows her nothing but hate and resentment. Nothing she did was ever good for Vicky. Is Stacy ever going to lead a good life?

There are so many positive aspects to this book. This book was set in different areas of America, predominantly Chicago. The predominant themes in this book are unconditional love, friendship, and pain. I love the storyline. I like the level of compassion displayed in this book. I like how the author showed how positive Stacy was, regardless of the situation she finds herself in. I learned a lot about vision impairment and how visually impaired persons adjust to living just like every other human. Most significantly, I loved the plot twist; I could never have guessed that.

I felt emotional reading this book. To be honest, I did cry a couple of times. However, one thing I did not like about this book is the writing technique. The story is written in the third person point of view, and as such, it lacks conversational statements or dialogues. There were not many dialogue instances in this story. However, this might be the author's style. I felt adding enough conversations would make the story more enjoyable.

I recommend this book to Christians out there and lovers of love, that is, everyone who believes in love. I recommend this book to people who find themselves in situations they can not control.

This book was professionally edited. Only a few errors were spotted while I read this book. Therefore, I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. I didn't give this book a higher rating because of the negative aspect I stated above. Although I enjoyed reading this book, I could not give it a perfect rating.

It is sad that people turn something that should be a good deed into money-making scheme, and worse, at the expense of these already fragile children. Unfortunately people like Vicky, who adopted many kids with the purpose of claiming money from the government do exist in real life and there are similar stories about foster parents as well. It is a social crisis, children should be adopted by people who really care. I wonder how this story ends for Stacy and the other children...thanks for not giving away the ending We will have to read it to find out what happens.

Stacy's story is really touching. I hope she found her confidence and made something meaningful out it her life and not just serve Vicky's greedy lifestyle. Beautiful review.

This story reminds me of a movie I watched years ago. The home Stacy was brought into is nothing to write home about. Great review.

This seems to be a fictional biography. The lack of dialog may be explained by the intention of the author to make the story more real. Fine review!

The story of Stacy is very relatable for someone born in the ghetto like me. This should be a good read.
