Review of Enif
Jerry blames himself for his mother's death. He feels she worked too hard to help him. Now, he feels choked by his financial debt. His fear of failure makes him consider a duel in the Chiricahua Mountains.
Mandy, Jerry's partner, was not in support of his adventure. To her, her source of income was enough to make their relationship work. One early morning, Jerry decides to check out the mountains without letting his partner know. Unfortunately for him, the exit path is nowhere to be seen when he tries to leave. What happens to Jerry? Does he make his way out? Find out by reading Enif by Russ Ber.
One of the things I liked about this book was the pace. This fast-paced book kept me wanting to find out more immediately after I started reading it. I like the fact that I could tell the direction of the story as I started reading this book. It wasn't a common storyline, but the direction it took was clear. This made me more interested in the story. The inclusion of mythical creatures made the action scenes in this book intriguing to read. The infusion of reality into this fantasy read was commendable; the author wrote about rocks. I enjoyed reading about the special gifts and powers Jerry used during his challenges, and I could easily see a movie adaptation of this book.
Amidst the adventurous and scientific tales that went on in this book, I enjoyed reading about the love shared between Jerry and Mandy. It seemed pure and relatable. Jerry wanted the best for his relationship, and he was willing to go out of his way to ensure they were financially secure. On the other hand, Mandy did not want to risk Jerry's security for financial benefits. I like how this story encouraged selflessness. I enjoyed reading about the risks people took and the journey they made to make their relationships better. In addition, their love was threatened by a third party. The reason I found all of these exciting was because this story contained a lot of details that could make some readers uninterested. It was great to see the author spice up the story.
My only concern with this book was that there were some unfamiliar terms, and this made it hard to follow up at some points. However, this did not interfere with my overall pleasure in this book. For this reason, I rate Enif 4 out of 4 stars. It was an interesting read with a great storyline. This book was perfectly edited, as I did not come across errors.
I recommend this book to lovers of sci-fi and adventurous books. In addition, I think that readers who love geophysics should enjoy reading this book.
