Review of Man Mission
What is a “Man mission”?
It is not just an annual adventure created by and for grown men to take a break from the day-to-day hassles of work, relationships, and family. It is something much more and Man Mission by Eytan Uliel tells us all about it.
The narrator of the book, who was not named, and his friends, Sam, Alec, and Daniel are no strangers to hiking, trekking, kayaking, cycling, and sustaining mental and physical injuries. Taking hold of a dream founded in law school, the narrator and Sam made the first-ever man mission trip to New Zealand hoping to get some cycling done in the name of manliness. This was the beginning of a fifteen-year tradition of visiting a different location each year, just toughing it out like men. In less than two more trips, they had the addition of Daniel and Alec to the Man mission committee and the support of their wives. Each adventure brings with it numerous challenges and experiences, helping this group of friends to stay close to each other even with their ever-busy lives.
Eytan Uliel has done a brilliant job writing this book. The plot of the book is so easy to read and understand. I also loved how the writer gives us insight into the private lives of the narrator and his friends and the way he makes them relate to the adventure in progress. Every page of the book had me wanting more and I found it hard to stop reading as soon as I began. I also admired the way he brought to light some of the worries of the narrator, showing us that men have fears too. The writer was scared of what the future held after changing profession and starting a family. The dynamics between the group of friends were also interesting to read about. Each was a different man in numerous aspects and I enjoyed reading about how they complemented each other.
The humor in the book was very satisfying. I enjoyed the recurring gag with the pink bracelet, which was an item presented to anyone who whines the most during their trips. The book was also professionally edited. I failed to pick up one single grammatical error.
I would gladly gift this book 4 out of 4 stars. The book excelled in every aspect to me and I cannot think of a single thing that strikes me the wrong way in the book.
The degree of profanities contained in this book reduces its target audience as I would not recommend it to children. However, for those that do not mind the profanities, this would be a great book to read as it contains minimal erotic scenes.

I love that the author showed that men are not the emotionless creatures society makes them seem. I'm also interested in the dynamic friendship between the 4 characters. However, I'm not a fan of profanities and the likes. Well done
