Man Mission is an adventure novel written by Eytan Uliel. It follows the narration of Charlie, one man out of four friends who had promised one other while they were in college, to embark on short annual trips in the near future. The novel had a beautiful starting point, and the author’s writing style was simple to follow. Added with the humour and wild adventures of these four friends, the book was a very entertaining read.

There are a lot of things I loved about Man Mission. The characters were just amazing. Charlie’s perspective of them was funny too. I first saw him as a man who was too busy with life to focus on other things and have fun, but his character grew even more interesting as I kept reading. The first part of his journey when he encountered drug and weapon dealers was one of my favourite portions of the story, along with the scenery he witnessed in Japan of a boy seeing a controversial billboard. Charlie first went on a trip with Sam, and they were later joined by Daniel and Alec in Japan. I was a few pages into the novel when I noticed I didn’t even know the name of the narrator. This was how engrossed I was in the book. I had to reread it to find Charlie’s name. I also liked the dialogues. Most of it was lively, especially between all four friends. I mostly looked forward to their conversations while reading this story. I also liked the flashbacks. It helped establish who these men were, along with introducing the people in their lives, but I’m not sure how other people take flashbacks. Even if some readers don’t like them, I feel they can still read this because none of the flashbacks were boring, and they served a good purpose in Man Mission.

I couldn’t find anything to dislike about this novel. It was a gem. I loved the simple narration. It was easy for me to understand what was happening and I think this helped with establishing the humorous aspect of the story.

I rate Man Mission 4 out of 4 stars. It was professionally edited. This ensured a smooth read for me. But I would like to note that it has some mature themes and swearing. I don’t believe this is something that the author could have avoided because this was one of the most realistic parts of the novel. A lot of people swear, especially when you are meeting people from different parts of the world. However, the profanities were not excessive.

I will recommend this story to older and younger readers if they are comfortable with swear words. The contents of this book will also be alluring to people who like to travel. I feel they will find useful tips about travelling the way I have.
