Have you ever wondered what males do when they travel by themselves? What activities and adventures do they partake in? This book relates the story of four young guys and their yearly journeys over the course of fifteen years. The description of what they do, where they are, and how they get by is done to perfection, making you appear to be an invisible fifth wheel. These men organize a trip or "man mission," to explore new things and catch up on life. The journey began with Eytan and Sam, and as time passed, Daniel and Alec joined. They go trekking, kayaking, cycling, traveling the world and roughing it most of the time, displaying their toughness and skills.

This book will provide to you an understanding of how guys think and the pressures of being a male in our world in terms of career, domesticity, marriage, divorce, and, most importantly, navigating how to stay sane through it all. Man Mission is told in the first person by the main character and author, Eytan. He does an excellent job of transitioning across the years, and it is not autobiographical, but rather a travelogue meets fiction and humor. It depicts their journey's accomplishments and failures in such a way that you both applaud and cringe for them as you read.

This novel is about friendship and adventure. Seeing their friendship blossom and being there for each other through their personal struggles and tribulations, knowing there is no judgement. Although there were misogynistic elements in this novel, I loved and recognized that it was being honest and staying true to its concept of a man's journey through life. I also enjoy how the author avoided going into detail about his divorce and adjustment to singledom, instead focusing on the book's concept.

I rate this book four out of four stars because it shows how important it is to have friendship outside of family and romantic relationships which applies to all genders. I particularly appreciated the author's attention to detail in describing the diverse cultures of the countries they visited, indicating that he considered how to properly capture the interest of his readers. I have no criticisms for this book because I absolutely enjoyed it. This book was professionally edited, as I discovered no faults in it. I would recommend this book to young adults because it emphasizes the value of friendship and how having someone you can rely on can help you get through difficult times and to anyone who likes to read adventure and travelogues.
