The book Man Mission by Eytan Uliel is a brilliant novel that explores the journey of four men, who have a beautiful friendship tale. The story opens up with the narrator, Eytan himself as he takes us on a journey of their tale recounted over fifteen years and details the annual "man missions" trips taken by the narrator and his four closest friends Sam, Alec, and Daniel. Confronted with life's tests, we see these men grow and develop from young adults to middle-aged men with families and careers, while also going on adventures in exotic regions such as New Zealand, Fiji, Vietnam, and South Korea. These four virile men initially begin these trips as a way to express their"macho-ness" they however retrospect and bond over emotional and tough times on their adventures, discovering what it means to be a man in this society.

The most captivating element of this book that made me enjoy it was the ability of the author to draw the reader in with well-created images through descriptions of these places they visited making you feel like you were actually there and tagging along in their journey, these descriptions transposed me to these places despite not having visited these places myself. It was also impacting to watch the growth of these four men in the novel, with Etyan pointing and calling our attention to core values necessary in friendships and relationships. With each mission, each year we see them forge a bond strong and by.
unshakable, helping each other through difficult times and losses
without passing judgment. The editing of this book was also outstandingly done, there was little to no error to be noted.

There were no red flags for me in this book except for the fact that the narrator's (eytan) transition from marriage to singledom was a bit rushed with no detailed and proper explanation. I believe the author could have taken the time properly and thoroughly to address the issue of his divorce. Otherwise, I have no reservations.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars, with its outstanding editing. The book also reveals male gender issues that the society may not be acquainted with establishing the fact, that men also do have difficulties even though the society is being dominated by them.

I recommend this book to anyone who wants an educative and insightful read. Also anyone interested in learning and understanding the societal demands that are placed on men and the struggles they also face that we earnestly do not pay attention to.
