Review of Man Mission
The dynamics of friendship have always been a mystery to me. How people could go from strangers to friends and how long-term friends can become family. The Man Mission by Eytan Uliel is a perfect example of this scene. These young men, who had been adventurous when they were younger, met in law school and, through a series of events, challenges to their faith, and a passion for travel formed a close bond that endured many hardships, allowed them to grow and develop, and inspired them to be their best selves.
An adventure that started from a simple visit to a food-fair event with a stranger, Sam, who attended the same law school, turned into a solid friendship, a promise, and a tradition. This tradition they made while tasting different dishes during a food fair to travel the world every year and have fun adventures was made out of fun and games as a joke and yielded the best memories. Those events had a cascading impact on the protagonist and the characters Sam, Daniel, and Alec, who formed the Man Mission group and are currently traveling the globe to keep their vow. This mission had a charter, rules, and regulations and was an opportunity for the young men to hang out together and talk about their lives, problems, and mistakes. The author wrote his novel in the first person. Although it includes examples of the four friends' families' lives, it focuses most on the protagonists.
The book spoke about the different places in a very descriptive and imaginative way that makes you understand the scenery and landscape of each area they visited. It also hints about the things to expect in each place, like the sheep and cows they encountered. I also liked the quotes left at the start of each chapter. I found them entertaining. My favorite would be the quote by Henry Ford saying, "One of the greatest discoveries a man makes, one of his great surprises, is to find he can do what he was afraid he couldn't do." I also enjoyed the maps in the book. I'm not so sure about their accuracy, but they added a certain thrill.
Although the text flow was inconsistent as the font style kept changing throughout the book, it did not deter my reading experience, and it could be a means of adding context to certain words and statements. The book is simple and entertaining.
I rate the book a four out of four stars as it was exceptionally edited. I recommend it to a mature audience interested in tourism and adventure stories and readers interested in a thrilling story that shines a light on true friendship. I do not recommend this book to younger readers as it contains some profane words.
