What does it mean to be a man? Be strong, do extraordinary things, build your muscles, work till you drop dead, stash all your emotions away, sacrifice your happiness for that of others, cover up your emotions and act tough all the time? Is that what it truly means to be a man?. Man mission challenges the very mentality of what it means to be a man and what it takes to be a man.

This book centers on the life of 4 young men, all friends, and their experiences following 15 years of their lives.

The progress of the book was steady and smooth, touching different phases of each of the characters' life; from college to marriage to having kids and mid-life crisis to coming to terms with oneself and finding purpose. This helped me to follow and connect with the characters in a way. It also made the book a lot more realistic.

I like how Eytan Uliel managed to strike a balance in this book. It wasn’t all about the adventures. It was also about the lives of those men; their wives, their kids, their homes. We got the entire picture and none was left out. Knowing the events leading up to each man mission adventure enabled me to flow with the characters.

Man mission, to me, is more than just a book. It brings something different to the table. Each chapter introduces a new adventure and in each adventure, there is always something important to learn about life, life as a man. I'm not a man but even I learned a thing or two from this book.

The humor, serenity, joy, and danger each journey brought were always refreshing. They get to be their true selves and enjoy themselves albeit engaging in some grueling exercises. It was fun to read about new places. The vivid descriptions of the places they visited made reading this book exciting.

I'm not much of an emotional person but I shed a couple of tears while reading this book. I felt the main character's frustration, his helplessness. I almost wished I could reach out and help him out. The way Alec, Daniel, and Sam stood by their friend after he hit rock bottom was commendable and it showed how real their friendship was. They helped him get through what could be considered the toughest time of his life.

I rated this book 4 out of 4 stars because I didn’t notice any errors while reading it. The book was well edited also. It contains some non-borderline profanities and sexual innuendo.

I enjoyed reading this book a lot. I recommend this book to young adults, especially men.
